Introduction 

Brothers and Sisters!

Assalam o Alleyykum

[Peace be Upon You]

INTRODUCTION

In normal sense ’employment’ means where one i.e. employee enters into an agreementwith other party i.e. employer to render his services  for a reward so that he can cater the needs of his day to day life in this world.

Brothers and Sisters! In fact, employment’ means to deploy one’s faculties:abilities and capabilities for the service of mankind. Let us understand this by an example:

  • If a physician renders his services to diagnose the health issues of the patients and prescribesmedicine for the cure then, technically, he is employed irrespective if he does not receive any reward for his service.
  • But if the same physician works as a salesman and is paid reward in monetary terms he is unemployed. Why? Because he has not deployed his faculties as a physician.

Brothers and Sisters! When our forefather Hazrat Adam (PBUH) was sent on this earth along with His (PBUH) wife Hazrat Haw’wa (RTU), He (PBUH) was given ILM (Knowledge) to explore the properties of the universe: earth, mountains and heavens. When He (PBUH) and His (PBUH) offspring explored the properties of the universe to keep body and soul together, various industries erupted: agriculture, mechanical, technology etc. To run these industries people acquired the knowledge and skills which they could deploy and become employed.

Brothers and Sisters! The term ‘full employment’ denotes that when all the people of the state are utilising their skills and knowledge in their respective fields then it is ‘full employment. But if 50 per cent people of the state are not working in their respective fields but however they are engaged in a job where they are rewarded then the there will be 50 per cent unemployed though on the records everyone is engaged in a job.

Brothers and Sisters! So the prosperityof a state depends upon if the people of the state can deploy their faculties in their respective fields. In other words progress of the economy depends upon Moral Values which in turn creates environments of Peace and Harmony which everyone is looking for.

Brothers and Sisters! Capitalism is a system which does not take into account Moral Values. Under capitalism the full employments means that everyone is on the payroll irrespective if the people are employed in their respective filed. If a physician is on the payroll as a road sweeper then he will be considered employed.

Brothers and Sisters! The attributes of Capitalism is to takeand not to give. In other words under capitalism the entrepreneurs will employ as little workforce as possible and pay them as little as possible but increase the prices of the products as high as possible.

Brothers and Sisters! The capitalism is the cause of inflation and recession in the economy. How? It is a vast subject which Alhamdu’lillah (All Praises to Allah)) has been dealt with under Posts:

Brothers and Sisters! Economically the whole world is one unit. Because of the international trade the economies of all the countries in the world are geared with one another. For example:

  • if an auto company in America buys parts from Pakistan then if the American company is closed down then automatically the business in Pakistan will have to be closeddown as it was gearedwith American company.

Brothers and Sisters! The recent recession which erupted in later part of the 2008 like a Tsunami and spread globally which led to:

  • business closures
  • unemployment

 

  • foreclosures

 

  • etc.

SUBJECT MATTER

Brothers and Sisters! At this point in time the subject matter is politics of United Sates of Americaand Presidential Electionsare on the horizon and the campaign strategy is based upon growthof the economy and unemployment.Therefore, the article has to be based upon the USA economic environments.

Perspective

Brothers and Sisters! Please consider the following:

  • When G W Bush assumed office of the President of USA on behalf of the GOP; Republican Party there was surplus of $2 billionleft by Democrats under the presidency of Bill Clinton.

  • G W Bush lodged war on Afghanistan in the year 2001 and on Iraq in the year 2003.

  • The budgetdoes not take into account the cost of warwhere the revenue  is collected from the taxpayers: employees, self employed, corporations and consumers: VAT, custom and excise duty etc.etc.

  • In short, the cost of wars were financed by ‘printing’ money which led to increase in the circulation of money and that led to increase in cost of living and lower standard of living . This led to budget deficit.

  • China was growing economy and gradually captured the world market and even USA was importing goods from China.

  • The two wars and growth of China economy led the USA economy slow down where its exports decreased and import increased which affected balance of payment.

Brothers and Sisters! The above factors led to the eruption of recession like a Tornado  in USA and giant businesses came under its grip where

  • AIG the biggest insurance giant

  • General Motors and Chrysler

  • Wall Street and financial institutions

  • Etc.

came on the verge of bankruptcies.

Brothers and Sisters!

  • Thejobswere shredding nearly one million per month when G W Bush was in the office of the President of USA

  • Because of the job losses the foreclosures rate was getting higher and higher

  • Small businesses were becoming under the hammer of bankruptcies

  • Exports were going down and imports were on the increase

  • Etc.

Brothers and Sisters! When Barrack Hussain Obama assumed office of the President of USA the economic situation was dire.

Stimulus Package i.e. Recovery Act

Brothers and Sisters!

  • At the time of recession when businesses are closing down then obviously one has to find a way where the business are saved from closing down and also create new businesses.

  • To start up a new business and to save existing business finance is required i.e. medium of exchange where the goods can be bought and sold.

  • The medium of exchange is monetary units which are readily accepted by everybody.

    Brothers and Sisters! President Obama and his economic team worked a solution to pull out the economy from recession and passed a bill to ‘print’ money to stimulate the economy which is the right economic course when recession hits the economy.

Brothers and Sisters! In short, the big giants: AIG, General Motors, Chrysler, financial Institutions were saved from going bankrupt and gradually they became profitable and employed more workforce.

Brothers and Sisters! The Stimulus Package also helped the small businesses not going bankrupt and also created new businesses which led to reduce the rate of unemployment from 10 per cent to 7.8 per cent.

Brothers and Sisters! The auto industry increased the production of carsand trucks which were exported which led to increase in exports and decrease in imports. Had General Motors and Chrysler let go in liquidation then USA would have to import cars and trucks from othercountries.

GOP: Republican’s Strategy

Brothers and Sisters! GOP is party of aristocrats. The Republicans are not naive that they cannot read the economic forces that when there is recession then it takes natural course to grow the economy and the policies adopted by President Obama
and his team are the right ones. But being aristocrats they do not approve from their hearts that an African American president takes to credit to take the economy out of recession. The aspect of racism can be viewed on video clip at www.youtube:

Brothers and Sisters! GOP is looking at the empty part of the glass of water and propagating:

 

  • there are 23 million people looking for jobs

     

  • growth of the economy is very slow

  • foreclosures rate is very high

    Brothers and Sisters! To score political points they have made the attack in Benghazi consulate  a big issue where the ambassador and three Americans were killed. Of course it is a sad occasion but the occasion is to grieve and not to score political points. Brothers and Sisters! They turned a blind eyethat the news revealed, though late, that the Bush administration knew that Al Qaida will attack but they could not provide security to American people who were killed by the attack on 11 September 2001 and even the Pentagon was attacked the safest place on earth.

Brothers and Sisters! To raise funds from the business tycoons Mitt Romney sold a plate at private dinner for $50,000 and tells the tycoons that he is not worried about the 47 per cent of Americans who do not pay taxes and they are the ones who will vote of President Obama:

And I mean the president starts off with 48, 49… he starts off with a huge number. These are people who pay no income tax. Forty seven per cent of Americans pay no income tax. So our message of low taxes doesn’t connect (inaudible)

(Inaudible) that’s what they sell every four years. And so my job is not to worry about those people.

Brothers and Sisters! Paul Ryan when asked at the Vice President Debate on 11 October 12 about these remarks he replied to the effect: the words do not mean what is intended to.

Brothers and Sisters! Mitt Romney portrays Democrats as disgraced party when he said:

(Inaudible) that’s what they sell every four years

Brothers and Sisters! This is mentality of a Capitalist where he thinks the other party as inferior and disgraced.

Brothers and Sisters! The GOP agenda was as below at the time of 2008 Presidential Elections:

  • No Stimulus or Fin Reg
  • GM and Chrysler Bankrupt
  • 2 Conservative on Scouts
  • All Bush Tax Cuts extended
  • More Iraq Combat, May be Iran

Brothers and Sisters! The GOP has the same type of agenda should they assume office of the President of USA. Mitt Romney believes in Peace with aggression. For this reason he is propagating that President Obama is weak not to take aggressive approach towards Irani.e. attack Iran.

Brothers and Sisters! President Obama is like a statesman. He understands that if USA makes intention to attack Iran then he will not be able to do so because:

  • The adjoining countries Pakistan, India, china and Russia are nuclear powers and they will not allow USA to attack Iran because they will lose their sovereignty and it will be start of third world war which will lead to destruction as every country will use its nuclear ammunition. Moreover, Iran itself is strong military power which he exposed by launching missiles couple of years ago.

  • The cost of war will have to be funded by ‘printing’ money and the economies of the world will never recover.

    Brothers and Sisters! The economic plan Mitt Romney is presenting will not work. He wants to extend the tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires where they can increase production of goods and shall be able to capture the world market.

Brothers and Sisters! Goods and services are only bought when people have money at their disposal. Due to higher cost of living people are hand to mouth how they will be able to buy increased production. The economies of the other countries are also affected by global recession so there will be no exports and if exported then how the other countries can pay. The recent examples are Spain and Greece whose economies have to be bailed out by European Community.

Brothers and Sisters! Mitt Romney is a businessman and a salesman. He can even sell refrigerators to Eskimos. This is why he is changing his course, contradicts his own statements and still gets away with it. For example: he has been able to recover the loss which was caused by his statement:

(Inaudible) that’s what they sell every four years. And so my job is not to worry about those people.

Brothers and Sisters! Plausible talk can win the hearts and minds of the people but the status quo does not listen to plausible talk and it has to take its natural course.

CONCLUSION

Brothers and Sisters! The conclusion boils down to is that the economy of USA is on the right course where:

  • unemployment has gone down from 10 per cent to 7.8 per cent

  • giant businesses and financial institution have been saved from going bankrupt and they are making profits and exports have increased

  • foreclosures rate is down

  • to a certain extent the image of USA has been repaired which was damaged by Bush administration

  • healthcare bill has been passed and gradually the cost curve will bend

  • middle class is recovering

  • etc.

Brothers and Sisters! Should Mitt Romney will assume office of the President of USA then all the progress in the economy will go down the drain and it will not start to grow again.

Brothers and Sisters! To appreciate the outcome of President Obama and his team policies is that when Bush administration left office the temperature was negative, and since then the temperature is plus though it is still cold.

Brothers and Sisters! The ball is in your court. If you want to be on the road to progress, then vote for Barrack Hussain Obama.

Brothers and Sisters! The object of Call for Peace is not that Barrack Hussain Obama should be re – elected as President of USA. The object is that the economic policies of the Democrats are on the right lines and road to economic recovery.
